DANCING IN COLLEGE
Your Talent Got You Here.
…We Help Get You In.
WHO WE WORK WITH
Dedicated performers, ready to be seen.
-
DANCERS
Ballet, contemporary, jazz, tap, and beyond. We help you prepare auditions that showcase your specific training and technique, develop a college list that honestly reflects your goals, and write essays that reveal the artist behind the training.
-
MUSIC THEATER PERFORMERS
For MT students, the dance audition is often where programs make their final decisions — and it’s frequently the least-prepared piece. We work specifically on movement presentation, dance callbacks, and how to write about your identity as a triple-threat artist.
HOW IT WORKS
-
Free Conversation
Where are you in your training, what programs are calling to you, and what does your prep look like right now?
-
Audition Strategy
Repertoire, pre-screen preparation, and callback coaching — built around what each program actually looks for.
-
Essay Development
Drafting and revising until your essays speak in your actual voice and say something true about your life as an artist.
-
Into The Room
You walk in prepared, grounded, and ready to show them exactly who you are. We support you throughout the season.
OUR APPROACH
Dancing in College helps dancers and musical theater performers navigate the college audition process — with specialized coaching on auditions, essays, and everything the performing arts college world demands.
-
Most college consultants help students build a school list. We help performing artists do the hardest thing — show exactly who they are in any audition room, along with the essays that get them in.
Getting into a conservatory isn’t about having the most training. It’s about making the room feel why your particular artistry belongs in their program.
The essay shows them who you are. The audition shows your skills and capabilities. Both deserve specific preparation. That's what Dancing in College is built around.
We work with MT students on auditions, essays, and everything in between — helping them present their training and their artistry compellingly, whether they’ve been dancing since childhood or came to dance through theater.
THE TWO PILLARS
Where most admission decisions are made.
-
PILLAR 1: THE AUDITION
Your audition is the centerpiece of every performing arts application. We help you prepare for it with the same intentionality the program brings to evaluating it.
• Repertoire selection tailored to each program’s specific aesthetic and expectations
• Pre-screen video strategy — material choice, camera presence, pacing, and self-presentation
• Live audition preparation including callback coaching and in-person presence
• MT dance auditions — how to show your movement vocabulary honestly and to its best advantage
• What each program’s faculty actually looks for versus what applicants assume they want
-
PILLAR 2: THE ESSAY
The performing arts college essay is unlike any other. It’s about artistic identity — your chance to give faculty a reason to remember your name after fifty auditions in a row.
• Finding the story only you can tell — the one that captures your specific artistic voice and history
• Artist statements and program-specific supplements that speak to faculty, not admissions officers
• How to write about your training, influences, and artistic goals with specificity and confidence
• For MT performers: how to articulate the relationship between your acting, singing, and movement work
• Multiple rounds of revision until every word earns its place on the page

STUDENT VOICES

"Our coaches wealth of knowledge and experience with the college application process is invaluable. The amount of supplemental information required by the college dance programs can be overwhelming and our coach helped navigate this. Our coach took the time to plan and organize all the details required by each college and carefully worked with our daughter to help manage the difficult process. Our coach is extremely thorough and would always answer our questions right away and was very responsive and attentive."

"Heading into the college process, I felt like I had to choose between rigorously pursuing academics or dance, certain that one would come at the expense of the other. With my mentor, I soon came to realize that I could continue to foster my love for both, and she took the time to help research colleges that would allow the right balance for me. Throughout the application process, my coach was able to uncover and highlight the strengths and passions of mine that even I couldn’t fully conceptualize at that age. Unfailingly, my coach devotes an impressive level of energy and attention to each of her students—this close connection and personal investment yields incredible results both in college acceptances and beyond. Thanks to her help, I’m attending my number one choice. Her continued support has been an integral part of my happiness, fulfillment, and success during college. Thank you, Dancing In College!"
